Andong - Rest Day
And really - after being quite pooped yesterday, I was pretty happy to mostly "rest" today. Breakfast, coffee (a blueberry smoothie for me......) and back to the hotel to do a bit more laundry, catch up on the blog, and do a little internet browsing for various things. Then out to stroll to the neighbourhood streets, get some lunch, and visit a bakery. The Mammoth Bakery had quite the operation. So popular that there was a line-up outside the door. They only allow a certain number of people in at a time. They are famous for their cream cheese bread, so of course I had to have one of those. Plus - a different bun to take on the bike tomorrow in case breakfast is no more substantial than today (a broth soup and some rice). You fill your tray with your finds and at the check-out they wrap each roll individually before putting in a nice bag. Over the top process, but the buns were delicious, and the price was pretty reasonable.
Well, that was exhausting! Ine had recommended a few tourist places to visit, but none of them were walkable and I wasn't motivated to go strolling. And my hip was starting to complain. So - back to the hotel to read for a bit. My eyes may have closed for a while. One woman had bought some local wine a couple of days ago so there was a gathering in the parking lot to sample that before heading out for dinner. Seven of us took an Uber(s) to a place recommended by Harry that was close to the Wolyeong Bridge (one of the tourist sites that I did want to see). The bridge is the largest wooden bridge in Korea, and has a beautiful illumination at night. Dinner was pretty good and the bridge was fabulous.
That bridge does look beautiful all lit up!
